We've spent more than 20 years building the systems businesses actually run on — designing databases, writing the queries and procedures that produce payroll, job-cost and month-end numbers, and building the full-stack web applications and websites around them.

The job has never been just "writing code." It's understanding how a business actually works, connecting the systems it already has, and owning the result for the long haul — long after launch day.

For about the last decade that has included leading internal software development for an industrial company here in the Upstate. That's where we learned what really matters: software only helps if the people in the shop, in the field and in accounting will actually use it. The first version of their operations platform was one web page. Today around 80 people use it every day.

Through Tailored Software we bring that same approach to other businesses — a car dealership, a consumer finance company's board of directors, schools and local shops — building things that fit the way they work instead of forcing them into a box.

Board-level experience at a local family-owned company means we know what owners and boards need to see — and how little patience they have for jargon.

How we work

Start with the work, not the technology

Before any code, we want to see how the job actually gets done and where it hurts.

Small first, then grow

A working first piece you can use beats a big plan you have to imagine. We build on what proves itself.

Plain English

You'll always know what we're doing, why, and what it costs before we do it.

No lock-in

Your code, data and accounts are yours. Everything is documented so anyone could pick it up.

Let's talk about what you're working around.

Tell us how the work gets done today. We'll tell you honestly whether custom software, a better website, or a simpler fix is the right answer.
